Lake Garfield Boat Ramp Use and Beach Fees
PARKS COMMISSION NOTICES: EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
BOAT RAMP CLOSURE DURING SUMMER BEACH SEASON
In light of safety and health and welfare concerns regarding the Boat Ramp on Lake Garfield, the Parks Commission, under its legal authority, will close the Boat Ramp in the afternoon hours during the summer beach season. The Park Commission’s concerns include the hazardous situation created by the entry of large trailers and the use of winches to haul and lift boats in and out of the water using the Boat Ramp and the pollution of the water in the swimming area caused by the discharge of gasoline from the boats launched off the Boat Ramp and boat engines started in the water next to the Town Beach’s swimming area. During the hours of noon to 6 p.m. each day from the last Saturday in June through the first Monday in September (Labor Day), the Boat Ramp will be closed. During hours when the Boat Ramp is closed, access will only be allowed for actual emergencies, in each instance on approval and in the presence of an officer of the Monterey Police Department or the Monterey Fire Department. Notice of this Rule, as promulgated by the Parks Commission, reads:
Lake Garfield Boat Ramp Is Closed
For Launching or
Retrieving of Watercraft
During the Summer Beach Season
noon – 6 p.m.
Last Saturday in June
– First Monday in September (Labor Day)
Parks Commission, Town Of Monterey
To implement this Rule, a sign will be posted at the top of the Boat Ramp, and a chain with a lock will be extended across the span of the Boat Ramp during its closed hours.
